Joe Dunlap Memorial Race - A HUGE Success! |
Tuesday, 02 February 2010 08:31 |
The first race of the 2010 GCKI Sprng Series was held on February 7th and was dedicated to Joe Dunlap in recognition of his volunteering to the GCKI club for almost 40 years. Joe was instrumental in getting the club started and wholeheartedly supported it, helping it grow to where it is today. Joe passed away earlier in 2010 and racers were invited to attend to honor Joe and celebrate his life and contributions to our club.
THANKS TO ALL OUR RACERS, we had a phenomenal turnout! It was a cloudy and windy day with a high temperature of 52 degrees. It was also Super Bowl Sunday. None of that stopped the racers from showing up at the track. We had a total of 63 race entries - ranging from age 5 to 79! It was a great day for racing and showing your support of our club.
We look forward to holding the Joe Dunlap Memorial Race as our first race of our Spring Series annually. Thanks to Joe and his family for providing such a great venue for all of us to share!

and we will strive to resolve them as quickly and fairly as possible. These results should be consistent with GCKI’s competition rules – That is, it is a best 5 races out of 7 series. You must have competed in at least 4 races to qualify for a year-end trophy. The dark highlighted 1st, 2nd and 3rd , where applicable, represent the trophies that will be awarded at the year-end banquet. These tallies shall remain unofficial until the end of December at which point no further changes will be made and trophies will be ordered for the banquet. The points were computed following the requirement that racers be members in good standing to earn points and qualify for year-end awards. Congratulations to all of our competitors and we look forward to seeing you all at the banquet and awards ceremony.
