The 3G Rotax Max Challenge at Gulf Coast Kartway will begin at the next race on April 13th. This series will be run in conjunction with our regular race schedule and will span our Spring and Fall seasons. Dave Pauly with 3G Kart Racing is sponsoring both the series and GCKI. The goal of the 3G Rotax Max Challenge is to promote Rotax racing in Houston while providing a convenient way for Rotax racers to obtain the punches necessary to qualify for Rotax Grand Nationals. The series will be comprised of nine race days, two of which will coincide with the BK RMAX series held on the TPKC regional weekend in October.
The dates of the 3G Rotax Max Challenge are as follows:
- April 13th
- May 4th
- May 18th
- June 1st
- August 10th
- September 7th
- October 4-5th (TPKC Weekend)
- November 9th.
Club trophies will be given at each race for all Rotax classes and Series trophies will be awarded at the annual GCKI banquet. All 3G Rotax Max Challenge participants must have a Rotax license, engine passport, and conform to all Rotax Max rules to qualify for the series and to receive punches. If you have questions concerning the series, please contact Dave Pauly at 3G Kart Racing.
The track is closed this weekend April 5th & 6th to karting for the Texas Mini Grand Prix race.
All shifter karts are required to have air boxes per the rules, kart tags should be on all karts running at GCKI, and safety equipment including suit, gloves, neck collar, and helmet are required at all times while on the track, even on non-race days.

Changes are underway at GCKI. We are working hard to streamline the membership registration and renewal process. The www.racekarts.com website has been updated to allow new members to register online. This speeds the process and reduces the time GCKI volunteers spend entering the membership data into the database and time to process payments.
So what is different? New members can process their membership online and pay membership using Paypal. Paypal lets you use a credit card or paypal account. Good news, by using Paypal, GCKI does not get involved in handling credit card data. For those who absolutely refuse to use the online system, you can still download and print the paper version of the application form, fill it out, enclose a check and send it to the address on the form. We will not process credit card numbers through the paper forms anymore so you will be limited to checks by mail. Please note, mailed forms will add a minimum of 1 week additional processing time to receiving your membership.
Membership cards: All members will receive new cards in the mail within the next few days, they were mailed out on Thursday February 20th. These new Membership cards will also change for the first time in 40 years! We will no longer be hand laminating the cards. We bought a card printer that allows us to print a professional looking card for all master and associate members 16 years and older. The card will have membership data on both sides and will also include helpful contact information etc. New cards will be coming to all members of record February 1st. Watch for this new card because the gate combination will be changing effective Feb 23rd.
Another change in the works....In these membership packets, we will include two kart tags that include the master member information. These cards will be stamped by the tech inspector on race days when the member submits a signed tech form for the kart. This tech tag will be valid for the race season. Additional member and non member kart bands will be available on race days but all karts racing on track on race days will be required to have a tech band prior to entering the track.
Included in the letter with your new membership cards and kart tags are three GCKI glossy brochures. We are asking members to hand out the brochures to friends, work colleagues and neighbors that you think may be interested in karting and becoming members of GCKI. More members means more fun with more racers and more money to put into improvements at our track. Please let us know if you need more brochures and we will gladly provide them. There will also be some available at the track if you would like to pick up some extras on race day.
We look forward to seeing everyone soon at the track and will be on hand on race days to help you with these changes.
The GCKI 2014 Race Schedule has been updated with the Texas Mini Grand Prix dates. Please note that the track will be closed to karts on the following dates when the Texas Mini Grand Prix will be using the track.
- March 1st & 2nd
- April 5th & 6th
- June 7th & 8th
- September 13th & 14
- November 15th & 16th.

Gulf Coast Karters welcomes and encourages members and non-members to volunteer to help run our kart racing events. You don't have to race to be involved in kart racing at Gulf Coast Karters. You can be a Corner Worker, Grid Marshall or work the Concessions Stand on race day and get paid for your service to GCKI. You don't have to be a member to serve as a race worker. Come and join in the action! Sign up to work in the Worker Forum Thread.
