ARC Racing is your one-stop source for CHONDA (a.k.a. “Clone / Box Stock Project”) engines and parts. The CHONDA and CHONDA Cadet classes at GCKI are two of our fastest growing segments, and the excellent products for sale and informative videos posted on the ARC Racing website make it easy to put together an inexpensive and competitive kart for practice fun or serious racing. When you order from ARC Racing, please let them know you appreciate their support of GCKI. Download the Chonda Yellow How To 58K
GCKI is pleased to welcome Awesome Shots as our official photography partner. Anyone who attended the Southwest Regional Cup races at GCKI saw well-known local motorsports photographer, Kenny Lau positioned strategically around the track taking great (awesome) action shots of the competition. Kenny will be permitting GCKI to use some of the shots as promotional pieces for the club, and we will use his photos to highlight our year end banquet. If anyone wants to view or purchase pictures from the SWRI Sunday race they can be previewed via the link below. Kenny will be attending GCKI club races whenever possible to capture all of the racing action. http://www.photoreflect.com/store/thumbpage.aspx?e=8170933
It is not typical that we issue a news release when we get a new member to the club. (With GCKI approaching 300 members I’d be a pretty busy guy!) But then Robby Mott is not a typical new member. In case you haven’t heard about Robby, (and chances are good that you probably have) he is a multiple U.S. national karting champion and also the founder of karting safety device manufacturer, Ribtect. Given GCKI’s emphasis on safety, having Robby in our midst will serve as a daily reinforcement to that goal. From their website: “Ribtect is committed to providing the karting industry with the most effective, functional safety equipment possible.” If you’d like to learn more about Robby, here’s a great link to his story and his mission: http://www.ribtect.com/About_Ribtect.html When you see him out at the track practicing or competing in the upcoming Southwest Regional Cup races, stop over and say “Hello.” He won’t be hard to spot – just look at his safety gear!
Jennifer Vogel of KIAH TV Houston's local Channel 39 came out to Gulf Coast Kartway to feature the kart club on the TV show "Anything That Rolls". Come out to GCKI on a race day to see for yourself how much fun it is to race and watch close open wheel racing at Gulf Coast Kartway. Check out our Race Schedule for race dates. Spectator passes are only $5 per person. We look forward to seeing you at the track!
Spectators are welcome. There is a $5 fee for anyone over 5 years of age, and a wristband must be obtained in the club house.
*Practice time at race directors discretion.
And in other news
Gulf Coast Karters welcomes and encourages members and non-members to volunteer to help run our kart racing events. You don't have to race to be involved in kart racing at Gulf Coast Karters. You can be a Corner Worker, Grid Marshall or work the Concessions Stand on race day and get paid for your service to GCKI. You don't have to be a member to serve as a race worker. Come and join in the action! Sign up to work in the Worker Forum Thread.
