- Competitor’s safety gear will be inspected prior to GCKI races. Competitors will only be allowed to participate if they wear at all times on-track the following equipment.

- A visor constructed off shatterproof protection for the eyes
- Unaltered, collar-type, foam-filled helmet support designed for motorsports applications.
- Gloves that completely cover both hands.
- An abrasion resistant driving suit, covering the whole body except the head, neck, hands and feet.
- Driving shoes and socks providing protection for the entire foot and ankle
- For all classes, a flak jacket or rib vest protecting the torso is highly recommended to minimize injury. These devices have been proven to reduce injuries.
- Chest protectors meeting SFI Specifications 20.1 are mandatory for all drivers in all classes where the maximum age is 12 or lower.
- Ballast weight may not be added to the driver ie addition of weight to the driving apparel, weight belts, ankle weights, etc without the written permission from the race director.
- If driver’s hair extends appreciably from beneath the helmet, it is mandatory that the driver wear a balaclava or head sock to prevent the hair from extending outside the helmet. Also, no apparel items such as bandanas, sweater hoods, loose belts, etc will be permitted.
