Gulf Coast Karters and SpeedSportz Collaborate for 2018 Schedule and Inter-Club Championship

Gulf Coast Karters and SpeedSportz Racing Park have collaborated to create some great local racing opportunities for 2018. Coordinated race schedules, class structures, and an inter-club championship will be part of this exciting new year. Each track will host it’s own ten race series for 2018 with separate awards for it’s clubs champions. In addition, GCKI and SpeedSportz will co-host the Greater Houston Race Series, an inter-club championship constructed by combining five scheduled races from each club’s series. This series will have its own champions and awards. Some of the highlights for 2018 include:

No overlap of club race dates.
Coordinated class structures.
Combined two races per month.
Each track will run one race per month.
Each month a Greater Houston Race Series designated race will be run at alternating tracks.

The goal of the coordination is to provide the racer the opportunity to race at different venues without schedule conflicts. With the coordination of schedules and the addition of the imbedded Greater Houston Race Series, racers will be able to tailor their racing to meet their needs. With up to 20 different club races available in 2018 between the two tracks, along with the concurrent inter club championship, the racer has the opportunity to participate in up to three different local championships in 2018.
GCKI is closed due to the flooding in the area. All the surrounding roads are flooded. The blue and white plastic barriers were seen via the security cameras & are floating off. If someone is in the area and sees them, if you could round up the barriers and bring them back to track it would be greatly appreciated! They are big blue and white plastic barriers as seen in the photo below.

Barry Peel is Crowned Champion in Briggs & Stratton Weekly Racing Series West Division!
We have seen tremendous growth at our races this year. Our first three races had 68,72, and 91 race entries. 91 entries was a club record! As a result of these record participations, it is imperative that the parking and the pit space be done in an efficient manner. Please see the revised diagram showing the pit locations at the track. Each pit space is 10’ wide, and there are two spaces between the yellow posts. There should be only one pit space for each trailer, with the pitting out of the back, but not on the pit runners. Exceptions to this should only be for teams with three or more karts, then a second pit space may be used.

Our Saturday practice days are almost as busy as a race day, and many leave their trailers overnight for the race on Sunday. It is important that pitting on Saturday follow the same procedures as race day, one trailer per pit space. Please pit as near to the front as possible, without taking the sponsor’s pit area. This will allow a more manageable parking for those that arrive on Sunday.

Please note that the track will be closed this Friday thru Sunday for the TSRS race. No trailers are to be left on property after Thursday without permission of the race sponsor.
Texas Sprint Series regional race 3 will be held at Gulf Coast Karters September 16th & 17th, 2016. Registration is now open on the Texas Sprint Series website

So if you would like to test your driving skills against other drivers in the region without the travel expenses & with a Home Track Advantage be sure to register now!

Online registration ends the Monday before the race at midnight. Pit spots are first come first serve, and are provided at no cost. Classes include Kid Kart, LO206, Briggs & Stratton World Formula, Tag Cadet, Tag Junior, Tag Light, Tag Heavy, Junior Stock Moto, Light Stock Moto & Heavy Stock Moto. More info on classes and rules on the Texas Sprint Racing Series website. www.txsprintseries.com
We will be having a work day at the track next Saturday AM. (6/25/16). We will be doing clean up and edging. Please bring weed eaters and blowers if you have them. The track will be closed while we do the work.
Reminder: Track Closed to Karting May 28th & 29th.
