Next Greater Houston Race Series Race @ SRP Sept. 8, 2024We are excited to announce the return of the Greater Houston Race Series (GHRS) for 2024!
All online early race entries are eligible for the Free set of tires drawing at the driver’s meeting!
NOTE: The new compound Evinco tires are now available, GHRS races will be "drivers choice" of either the old or new compound tires applicable to your race class.
The Greater Houston Race Series will be a 14-race season, 7 at Speedsportz and 7 at GCKI. This will be made up of a Spring and Fall Championship, with the best 5 out of 7 races per season counting for points. To be eligible for a season championship you must compete in at least 2 events at each track per Spring or Fall Season. (Double header counts as one race event for drop purposes) In addition to the Spring and Fall Series winners, the 2024 GHRS overall Championship will be the combined Spring and Fall Series best 5 of 7 race points. A minimum of 4 races per venue is required to qualify for the 2024 overall championship.
Members of either SRP or GCKI pay $75 race entry fee, which includes ONLY the racers wrist band. All others buy wrist band at the gate.
The non-member entry fee at both tracks is $125.
Club members may practice for free the day before a race at both tracks, Non-members pay the track defined practice day fee.
The race format shall be controlled practice, followed by qualifying session, 12 lap Pre-final, 16 lap main.
In the event a class has less than 4 entries, race day trophies will be awarded for one less than the number of entries. Each class MUST have a minimum of 5 entries for that race to count towards season points.
Classes may be combined on track at the discretion of the race director, depending on the number of entries.
4-stroke classes will have the option of running MS93 or Bucee’s ethanol free 92 octane gasoline.
All classes shall run Evinco Blue tires, except TAG and Shifter which run Evinco Red.
*Classes may be added/dropped, or weights modified if needed to enable fair and competitive racing.

Cooper Shipman Triumphs at United States Pro Kart Series National Race
Katy, TX, July 2023 – Cooper Shipman added another feather to his cap by emerging victorious in the KA100 Senior class at the United States Pro Kart Series National Karting Race held on June 25th, 2023. The event took place at the illustrious New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana, and showcased Shipman's exceptional skills and unwavering determination on the track.
Helio Meza Makes Waves in the United States Pro Kart Series
Helio Meza made waves this weekend in the United States Pro Kart Series by taking first place in the KA100 Senior category and fifth place in the X30 Pro category while competing under Iron Rock Motorsports. His impressive performance has earned him a well-deserved reputation as one of the most promising young drivers in the sport.
At just 15 years old, Meza has already built a solid track record in karting. He started racing go-karts at the age of 6 as a hobby, and started competing more rigorously in 2017. By the time he turned 14, he had already won several local, regional, and national championships. He joined Iron Rock Motorsports, a well-respected karting team based in Texas, who mentor him as one of their drivers.

Gulf Coast Karters welcomes and encourages members and non-members to volunteer to help run our kart racing events. You don't have to race to be involved in kart racing at Gulf Coast Karters. You can be a Corner Worker, Grid Marshall or work the Concessions Stand on race day and get paid for your service to GCKI. You don't have to be a member to serve as a race worker.
